Why?
My daughters are the reason I created this project. I want us to help every black person fight the constant messages of devaluation heaped upon us.
The goal of this project is through various means to re-instill the understanding of self worth we as black people need. A lie has been told loud and long, and little has been said or created to refute it. Black Gold is what and who we are, valuable precious, worth treasuring. We must know this down to our spirit, to survive the mental and physical attacks heaped on us. This project is medicine in many forms. You can help.
Mission
What we are doing
Calling upon the Black Diaspora to help the Black Diaspora. To build self worth. To collect resources and information to nourish soul. To store our experiences for the benefit of our children. To be a hub for business and safe business transaction. To inspire each person with roots in Africa to reach for their dreams unapologetically.
Vision
How we plan to do it
Know our Worth, Connect with our Culture, Heal from our Trauma.
Through Content creation, brand affiliation, partnerships, and resource dispersal, The Black Gold Project will pull culture towards emotional health, cultural appreciation, and support of economic understanding and development.
Core Values
Trust | Boundaries | Transparency | Integrity
These four words inform our approach to fulfilling the mission and vision, as well as being guidelines for interaction with the Diaspora as a whole, project participants, investors, and partners. As new opportunities for expansion and ideas for additional ACTs are proposed, the decisions will be based on alignment with our core values.
As for our allies
Siblings from another mother, we have not forgotten about you, and we acknowledge your worth contributions and efforts to help us. We have opportunities and ways for you to participate in The Black Gold Project as well, which can be found on the main page.
Walking it out

Content Creation: The power of imagery
The Black Gold Project is directly challenging the negative messages purported by society which are broadcast 24/7. We need a safe space to reveal the wounds and struggles we all deal with, as well as the strategies and paths to overcoming those struggles. We connect with each other through shared experiences, knowing we are not alone in the fight we find strength to persevere, and overcome.
ACTs or African Children Talking, will have unique themes which will guide the discussion. These will contain various forms of media from video interviews to photoshoots, podcasts, and more. Production of these will be handled and created by black voices. Every aspect of our story must be carried and developed by hands that understand. The current paths of Dialogue include, Brother, Sister, Roots and Bridges, For the Nourishment, and Rhythm. These explore the connections and traditions that carry around the world though we have been separated by miles/kilometers and centuries. The information in the media created from these ACTs will deposit internal value and sense of worth because of being connected to things of value and worth to the community as a whole. It will inspire the young to continue creating, and the wise to maintain their acts of covering, directing, and teaching.
It starts from the inside out, if you have heard of the ACEs study, you know the adverse effects of a constantly stressful and dangerous environment can have on a person’s life. We have been adversely effected for hundreds of years and even the ACEs study didn’t list Racism or racist environments as contributors to trauma. It failed to acknowledge that being black can multiply random trauma. And that watching someone who looks like you being killed weekly can have intense effects similar to seeing your own family killed. I had a chance to hear the doctor who lead the ACEs study in person. He did not acknowledge what was plain to me in that moment, racism has impacted every black person for their whole lives, and negatively effected our health in ways that are unimaginable outside of diet and exercise.
One thing that stood out in his presentation was that the patients in the project had a survey in which they shared their traumas experienced. The doctor’s responses were simply, “I see that you experienced this _____ trauma, how did that affect you?” The patient was then free to share what happened to them without judgement or questioning/cross examination. The year after this was implemented, medical appointments by the study group dropped by 37%.

Branding and Merchandise
The Black Gold Project will work to help us connect through partnerships built on trust and good boundaries. We will highlight businesses, movements and individuals who are working to help make the world a better place by informing separated peoples of culturally nurturing activities and resources. There is an opportunity for merchandise to also have a positive impact and help share the Black Gold Project. Merchandise sales will go towards production costs. While promoting the core mission through quality clothing, merch and affliated pieces. Designers and creaters will be able to have a Black Gold line that Black people of all hues and combinations suffer similar challenges and experiences brought about by negative teaching that effects us internally. We must see that no matter how light or dark, we experience negativity due to our color. Connecting with our culture, will help us see our similarities and help begin the healing process.
Black Gold Approved is a list of black excellence, as well as allies of excellence. In the spirit of The Negro Motorist Green Book, and the idea of reviving Black Wall Street, we are compiling resources and businesses that are safe places for black people all over the planet.
